Operating principle for rotary dryers with radiation heating

The granular material which is dried is introduced in the dryer with the role of spiral transporter. Here the heating process takes place through the heat contribution, mainly through radiation, transmitted by the radiant burners with metallic fibers found inside the rotary dryer, in the direct heating case, or towards the heated rotary dryer by the radiant burners with metallic fibers positioned transverse and longitudinally, in case of indirect heating. Vapor elimination from the dryer is made through the exhaust once with the flue gases and through the introduction of fresh hot air, with recovering the heat from the evacuated gases. A part of these gases are recirculated and reintroduced in the dryer, in case of direct heating or in the oven, in case of indirect heating.

Advantages of rotary dryers:

Advantages of heating through radiation in the case of rotary dryers:

- In the case of heating with radiation, transmitted energy is independent of the heated material, the heating speed is stopped only by the cooling effects of the convection currents from around it.

- Heating though radiation can elevate material temperatures way over the dryers temperature, depending on the radiation source and the distance form this reaching temperatures of 300-350 degrees C.

- The heating of the material exposed to radiation is realized rapidly, radiant energy is immediately created after starting the radiant stream operation.

- Heat losses are reduced, electromagnetic radiations don't heat up the ambient and are directed as a beam upon the sludge which will be heated.

- Heating with radiation with our sources permits a continuous and precise adjustment of the temperature.

Advantages of rotary dryers:

 

- high drying share through radiation

- heating/radiation intensity is constant throughout the entire length of the dryer, facts that prevents the overheating of the dryer and the efficient drying on it's entire length

- there will be no crust formed on top of the material, the drying is created from the interior towards the exterior

- drying time is 5-6 times reduced, compared to drying with hot air or with flue gases

- reduced fuel consumption

- energy efficiency superior by significantly reducing the losses with circulated hot air and through the possibility of recirculating and recovering the heat from the flue gases.

- emanated NOxs are reduced due to both reduced fuel comsumption and by using radiant burners with metallic fiber.

- the material that is being dried doesn't need to be aired, and the necessary dedusting is significantly reduced

- the occupied space of the equipment is 300% reduced, specially due to the reduced length of the dryer

- fast commissioning and very low input regime

- easy maintenance, on the interior wall due to reduced temperature, but evenly distributed, the material will not stick and it won't form crusts.

- the possibility of setting the speed of the drum, the intensity of the radiation and of the interior temperature, the drying makes these adaptable for different types of humidity, diverse granular materials and diverse mass flows.
