Situation

 

     Local authorities and road managers are constantly facing the state of degradation of gravel roads, and, given the lack of funds and inadequate maintenance, the situation worsens continuously.

 

Problems:

Given that bituminous clothing are made properly, defects are mainly due to road maintenance neglect in the quality work, executed at the right time and with a preventive character. In winter when freezing and thawing conditions occur, the state of degradation increases. Required emergency interventions are costly and provisional. When climatic conditions allow remedial operations, starting work late is do to ack of funding and because of cumbersome procedures of public procurement of the works.

 

Implications:

 

The road condition worsens continuously, delaying operations of maintenance and requiring further remedial works is very costly. There must be solutions to identify through which maintenace costs are reduced and remedial works to achieve high quality could be done even in cold weather.

 

Solutions:

Repararea şi reciclarea îmbracaminţilor asfaltice utilizând raze infrarosii (IR) este o medodă care permite:

- Repararea permanentă a îmbrăcăminţii asfaltice.

- Reciclarea la cald in situ a asfaltului

 

Această metodă are la bază încălzirea şi înmuierea asfaltului (topirea bitumului din compoziţia asfaltului) utilizând Panouri Radiante cu Raze Infrarosii „IR” pana la temp de 160 grd.C, temperatura la care se poate face prelucrarea asfalului prin termoprofilare si termoregenerare, respectiv scarificare, regenerare, amestecare cu asfaltul proaspat completat, nivelare, compactare.

     Weaknesses

 

       - Asphalt plants do not work in the winter and the asphalt mis must be stored

       - It requires the use of a rejuvenation that has not yet been used nationally

       - Lack of legislation to technological procedures

       - Imported equipment can be damaged and this still does not ensured rapid intervention possibility

- High consumption of asphalt - practically the entire quantity of asphalt used for repairing the area is removed and replaced with new asphalt;

- No remedy is allowed under conditions of low temperature and moisture;

- The correct technological preparation for local, small scale repairs are not cost effective;

- Large amounts of repairs involve cumbersome and long procedure of public procurement.

- The technology is fast and with a short-term intervention and it may be cost effective for both large-scale works as well as smaller ones;

- They can achieve rapid and inexpensive preventive maintenance and repairs so that roads are maintained in proper condition throughout the year;

- Small amounts of works with low values imply a simple and rapid procedure of public procurement by direct custody.

9. Environmental protection

- High consumption of asphalt makes both the manufacturing process and the filling process to be heavily pollute the surrounding air;

- Milling or scraping with a pickamer lead to intense noise pollution.

- Lower consumption of asphalt significantly reduce air pollution;

- Lack of noise pollution

10. Traffic disruprion

-Lengthy execution time of heavy duty machinery is going to stop traffic on one lane, with uppseting results.
