Warm water storage tanks - PUFFERS - with two alternative heat sources
Hot water storage tanks are composed out of two circuits, the primary circuit and the secondary one.
The primary circuit makes the connection between the storage tanks and the hot water boiler.
Warm water from the boiler goes through the tank through the warm water intake (3) on the superior part of the tank, and cold water accumulated in the inferior part,, is evacuated through the cold water outlet (6) and through the return pipe, it goes back to the boiler.
An alternate water heater from the tank is an immersed compact tube gas fired mounted in the visiting opening (9) of the reservoir. The surface of the heat transfer of the immersed tube being surrounded completely by water from the reservoir, heating up the water is done without the primary circuit.
The secondary circuit is made out of the circuit for warm water, destined for consumption. Warm water from the tank goes through the warm water intake (10) providing the consumers with heat. After the heat dissipates, the cooled water returns to the tank and goes through the cold water intake (8) on the superior part of the tank.
In the functioning of the tank, we identify two stages:
In the heating stage (respectively ICT) the tank is functioning and release a bigger heat quantity then it's used by the consumers. Thus the temperature from the tank grows until it reaches a default setting. Thermometers, respectively thermostats mounted on the connections (2) and (5) sense, respectively comand the stopping of the boiler (of the ICT). The next stage is characterized by suppliyng with heat the consumers based only on the accumulated heat from the tank. After the heat transfer the temperature from the tank gradually decreases until it reaches the point where the boiler retakes it's heating function.
This enables optimization of boiler operation.
The connection (4) serves to introduce an additional electrical heating resistor.
Through the connection (7) the water can be evacuated completely from the tank for maintenance and repair purposes.
The connection (1) serves to vent the tank, respectively to mount the safety valve
Field of use
Storage tanks (puffers) with two alternative power sources are equipment used to store thermal agent for heating installations and they are used in central heating systems. These store thermal energy supplied by the boiler on gaseous, liquid or solid fuel, respectively as an alternative option for the immersed compact tube (ICT) fueled by gas mounted on the sight orifice on the reservoir and optimizes the burner's functioning, respectively the boiler's functioning on solid fuel. This product can be used in places where natural gas network is available.
By using the storage tank, the boiler can function for a longer period of time close to it's nominal load, at full efficiency, regardless the thermal variation at the consumers, resulting in the following advantages:
- fuel consumption decreases by 20 - 30%
- the lifetime for the components from the heating system (boiler, chimney etc.) increases significantly
- deposit decrease in the boiler
- boilers on solid fuel need to be recharged less, a single load of fuel can ensure the necessary thermal agent for a period of one to two days
Maximum flexibility is ensured in the use of thermal agent (stored in the storage reservoir) both for the radiators, but also for underfloor heating, domestic hot water preparing and other technological needs.
Water from within the body of the tank flows through a closed system and thus doesn't corrode the interior walls of the tank, making it possible the use of carbon steel used for its construction, without a protective layer on the inside.
The thermal insulation of the tank ensures the reduction of heat loss to a minimum.
Each tank has a 6/4" connection, to which, whenever necessary, an additional electrical resistance can be fitted.
Depending on the created situation created or the client's preference, one of the available heating alternatives (natural or wood gas boiler, electrical resistance, compact immersion tube, etc.) or a combination between these.
